Probably the last thing I need just now is another book or two to read - in addition to the several lifetime's worth of books I already have to read (added to this week alone by the kind input of Karen M, Michelle P and sundry publishers), I had to go out to the bank today and on the way back, just happened by chance (hmmm) to pass Sussex Stationers (a.k.a. British Bookshops). They had a "buy one get one free" offer on a selection of paperbacks - groan. My purchases are pictured. Other titles in the promotion include The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson, A Simple Act of Violence by R. J. Ellroy, Until its Over by Nicci French, The Damned United by David Peace... you get the picture. Other very good deals include P. D. James's The Private Patient (large format paperback), Lee Child's Bad Luck and Trouble, and Fractured by Karin Slaughter.

What shall I say?
You have all my sympathy
- or I am not sure I really understand what a heavy burden a TBR is yet as I have only known what the letters stand for for three months or so.

I only have a professional TBR pile, as my budget is too tight to allow many purchases, and my local library has an unfortunate knack of either not having what I want at all, or only having things available in completely the wrong order. Also, I read at bat-out-of-hell speed (I finished a 312 page novel not in English in under three hours this week) so it's rare for fiction to pile up.
Most of the time this situation makes me rather sad, but it's at least comforting when I see how much anxiety masses of unread books can cause!
