Nicci French's online story this week

Despite the fact that I followed K. O. Dahl's posts on Moments in Crime with interest, I missed the fact that one of my favourite authors, "Nicci French" (Nicci Gerrard and Sean French) was/were guest-blogging there all last week. Oh well, never mind. However, now that I've caught up with the fact, I see that their last post (yesterday) on Moments in Crime revealed that this week, they are writing a story live, online, at the Penguin website, called Your Place and Mine. The story starts today Monday 6 April, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm (British Summer time - GMT minus one hour) and continues at the same time every day until the authors finish it on Friday - "if we don’t collapse first", they write.
Moments in Crime is the blog of St Martin's Minotaur press. If you want to read the Nicci French posts from last week, the introduction is here: you can just scroll ahead from there until you get to Barbara Fiser (and carry on reading, actually, her first post today,  A blogging librarian who kills people in her spare time, is engaging).
I have recently reviewed Nicci French's most recent books at Euro Crime: Losing You and Until It's Over. As you can see from my reviews, I highly recommend both.

Sunday Salon: brutal blogging and biography Quite an amusing little spat about the role of blogging and book reviewing has been going on in this past week. In a post on the Picador blog, Patrick French, author of a new "warts and all" biography of V. S. Naipaul, writes "I don’t like blogs. Bloggers are bores; bores are bloggers. Have you ever read an interesting blog post? Neither have I." He appears to have lowered himself to write the post in order to promote his book, which he duly "talks up" - you can read that, if you care to, by visiting the Picador link. Mr French abruptly switches from this eulogy to his own efforts as a guest blogger in a final paragraph: "Since this is a blog, I had better break the tendency of a lifetime and write something random and personal. Clive James, ebooks, freedom and crime Via James Long at The Digitalist, I read that Clive James’s ‘intellectual autobiography’, Cultural Amnesia, is simultaneously being published in paperback and as the first in Pan Macmillan's series of ‘special edition’ eBooks, featuring extra material not available in the print version and including a specially written foreword by the author. James (Long) provides a widget of the beautiful cover of the book at his Digitalist post: you can click on it to start reading, listen to an audio excerpt, or add to your own website or blog. Both author and publisher have decided to make the ebook "DRM free", which means (I think) that you can read it in any e-reader not only in one company's. At the Picador blog (publisher of the paperback), Clive James himself writes: "In hardback the book has done at least as well as any of my autobiographies, so I have high hopes for the paperback, which should be more in range of the student budget.
