Red Leaves in the Rainforest

One of the unread books in one of my tottering piles of same is Red Leaves by Thomas Cook. A crime fiction novel endorsed by none other than Harlan Coben: "Red Leaves is one of the best novels you’ll read this year – gripping, beautifully written, surprising and devastating."

I seem to recall I read quite a few recommendations on various blogs when the book was first published, and that Amazon featured it on "book of the week" (50 per cent off list price) so I snapped it up.

The other day, I received one of those emails from Amazon:

"We've noticed that customers who have expressed interest in "Red Leaves" by Thomas H. Cook have also ordered "Rainforest" by Thomas Marent. For this reason, you might like to know that this book is now available."

I went over to Amazon to check "Rainforest" out: "This awe-inspiring collection of over 500 amazing photographs will open your eyes to the wonders of life under the canopy. As I said at the time, the A9 search engine isn't a patch on Amazon's old one (Google-based).

Mass creativity on the web Last month I posted about an upcoming book "The New Influencers" , about social media and evolution of the Internet. Here's a more interesting approach along similar lines: Charles Leadbeater's "We-think the book" , which attempts to encapsulate the power of mass creativity enabled and organised by the internet.
